Rickford Discusses Home Renovation Tax Credit at Kenora Home and Leisure Show
April 26, 2009

Greg Rickford was on hand to meet constituents at his MP Booth at the Kenora Home and Leisure Show on Sunday, April 26th.

The Conservative Government’s Home Renovation Tax Credit (HRTC) was a popular item at the show with both attendees and exhibitors. This is part of the Federal Government’s effort to encourage home renovations as a general stimulus to the economy and one that will also specifically stimulate the forest products sector.

The HRTC is available to Canadian families for the 2009 tax year. Simply review details on the Government of Canada’s web site (www.cra-arc.gc.ca/hrtc) or call the office to ensure your project is eligible, then save your receipts as you complete the work. Expenditures made between January 27, 2009 and January 31, 2010 will be eligible. A simple calculation of 15% of expenses that exceed $1,000, but not more than $10,000, will go on a new line item on the 2009 tax return.

Also promoted at the show was the Passport Clinic which will be held in Kenora on Wednesday, May 20th from 1 to 8 pm at the Kenora Legion. For more details people can check our web site at gregrickford.ca, phone (468-2170) or stop into the office on Matheson Street.
