
DRYDEN, ON – Greg Rickford, MP for Kenora, on behalf of the Minister of Heritage, congratulated Mayor Anne Krassilowsky and all Centennial Celebration committee members today. The Government of Canada through the Community Historical Anniversaries Programming will support Dryden’s 100th Anniversary Celebrations with funding of $154,000.
The Dryden Development Corporation is a local, incorporated organization that will oversee the financial side of these celebrations. Activities will take place throughout the 2010 calendar year. Commemorative activities include musical performances by local artists, a local arts festival and various installation projects by local artists and community members.
Dryden’s Homecoming Week will be July 30 – August 8 with the kick-off parade scheduled for Saturday, July 31st. They are looking forward to welcoming current and former residents, family, friends and visitors to the many events and activities that will mark this wonderful milestone. Mayor Anne Krassilowsky was extremely pleased with the announcement. It will significantly increase the size and scope of the community celebrations. The excitement was unanimous in the Council Chambers of Dryden’s City Hall as the announcement was made. It is the product of a dedicated committee working in partnership with a dedicated MP.
