Liberals’ Actions Perplexing
September 18, 2009

OTTAWA, ON – Today the Liberals voted against key tax measures for Canadians.

“This is very perplexing, the recession-fighting Home Renovation Tax Credit is helping not just homeowners, but everyone from lumber producers to construction workers, as well as hardware and home building supply stores. Voting against it makes no sense at all,” stated Rickford. “The Liberals are clearly not in it for Canadians. It just goes to show how eager they are to put Canadians into an election that they don’t want.”

This Ways and Means motion implements vital portions of Canada’s Economic Action Plan (2009) including the Home Renovation Tax Credit, the First Time Home Buyers Tax Credit and enhancements to the Working Income Tax Benefit.

These are items that were already in Canada’s Economic Action Plan Budget 2009 early in the year that the Liberals fully supported.
