May 18, 2010

DRYDEN, ON
- On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Greg Rickford, Member of Parliament for Kenora, today announced funding for the Dryden Entertainment Series. The Government of Canada has provided $10,000 through the Canadian Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF). The Dryden Entertainment Series will provide residents and visitors to Dryden and the surrounding area with quality, Canadian-focused professional entertainment.

“Our Government is proud to support this concert series,” said Rickford, “by partnering with local communities we enable residents the opportunity to experience and value professional artistic experiences.”

The Government is helping to build stronger communities across our great country. We recognize that many Canadians from coast to coast do their part to ensure the vitality of their communities. We acknowledge and applaud the efforts of citizens who volunteer their time to organize events that enrich the fabric of community life.

The Dryden Entertainment Series is a volunteer, non-profit organization working in partnership with sponsors and individual citizens to support and present the performing arts for the enjoyment and enrichment of the community. The Series showcases a consistently high calibre of performing artists in the comfort of an outstanding venue, the Dryden Performing Arts Centre.

Each season features a mix of emerging and established artists. Over the years, Dryden audiences have had the opportunity to view such well-known artists as Michael Burgess, The Rankin Family, Natalie McMaster, Prairie Oyster, George Fox and Stuart MacLean.  Dryden Entertainment Series also tries to offer a yearly program with a balance among the various performing arts, such as orchestral and smaller ensemble music in a variety of styles, theatre, dance and comedy.
