KENORA, ON – The Government of Canada continues to invest in key infrastructure projects across the country and make a positive contribution to our nation’s economy. Greg Rickford, MP-Kenora announced today investments of $330,000 for the repairs and renovations to the Kenora Post Office Building.
“Rebuilding Kenora’s infrastructure is more than just our roads and sewers, and certainly part of our downtown revitalization means rehabilitating some of our institutional buildings,” stated Rickford. “In the case of the Post Office, this is an important building not just for postal services, but many other important administrative groups operate out of this building. This investment is another step forward to rebuilding Kenora’s infrastructure.”
Projects that are currently underway in the Kenora Post Office building include:
- upgrades to washroom fixtures
- crawl space foundation wall repairs
- development of building threat risk assessment
- carpet installation
These projects will be completed by March 31, 2010.
“Through Canada’s Economic Action Plan and Budget 2009, this government is turning our short-term challenges into long-term strengths,” added Rickford. “We are acting quickly to get projects off the ground while providing taxpayers with the accountability and transparency they expect and deserve.”
The Government of Canada is investing $12 billion in new infrastructure funding for roads, bridges, broadband Internet access, electronic health records, laboratories and border crossings across Canada.
