About Greg

Greg currently lives in Kenora, but over the last 16 years he has traveled and worked in a variety of the communities in the riding of Kenora. As a result of his work throughout this region, Greg has come to know the people and the issues that matter to them.

Greg first moved to the region in 1992 working as a nurse, healthcare consultant and lawyer. His background in healthcare includes working directly with First Nations people living in remote communities. Greg knows firsthand the importance of providing these communities with the transportation and health services they deserve.

While an authority in healthcare, Greg is also a businessman. He earned his MBA from Laval University in Quebec City where he learned to speak French.  He has degrees in Common and Civil law from McGill University.  He also attended the University of Arizona as part of his legal studies.

Born to a family of eight, Greg came to value the role of local institutions in building strong communities from his parents who were both foster parents to so many children, and involved in a number of church and community activities.  Greg is also a lifetime member of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.

In his rare moments of spare time, Greg can be found swimming, playing hockey, and fitness training. He remains an avid fisherman and once part-owned a fishing lodge in northern Saskatchewan.

Greg was honoured to be elected to Canada’s 40th Parliament as the Member for Kenora in the fall of 2008.  He is a member of the House of Commons Standing Committees on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, and Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics.   He also Chairs the All Party Tourism Caucus for the 40th Parliament.

Today, Greg's primary work involves finding innovative solutions to issues here in the north. He is focused on working hard for the constituents of Kenora.
